Netflix Most Watched Movies and Series

Top 10 Most Popular Series

Stranger Things, The Crown, Orange is The New Black, How to Get Away with Murder, House of Cards, 13 Reasons, Marvel's Daredevil, Sense8, Marvel's Jessica Jones, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. This list is based on the total number of views and countries. While you don't need any data to know that Stranger Things was 2017's most popular series because of its immense popularity during last year. House of Cards' numbers came down a bit since we last reported it but still rank highly above all other shows. It seems like the political thriller genre is taking over tv series these days, which makes sense given our current political climate worldwide.

Bridgerton: Season 1 (82 Million Watch)

The Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn is about five sisters (four of them society debutantes) who are constantly on display for some purpose or another. Throw in a sickly mother who can’t bear to leave her bed, an overbearing father trying to marry off his daughters, an older brother with dubious intentions, and rumors about plague-carrying refugees, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a plot. Bridgerton is actually one of my favorite books ever. You can read my full review here. We are counting on another big hit in 2018, with Ozark being one of 2018s biggest releases so far! We are also predicting some very good new releases for 2019 too, so stay tuned! Or check out our full selection if you want to see what's currently available.

Lupin: Part 1 (76 Million Watch)

Part one follows one man, Fujiko Mine (played by Minami Takayama), and her life with thief Arsene Lupin (played by Kazuhiko Inoue). Lupin is a professional thief whose goal is to steal valuable items from around Europe. He has many original plans, but they often result in stealing things he doesn’t need. One day, he gets contacted about stealing a certain item from a casino, which is run by his old nemesis Inspector Goemon Ishikawa XIII (played by Yutaka Matsushige).

The Witcher: Season 1 (76 Million Watch)

The Witcher is an action-adventure fantasy based on the best-selling book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. A low-budget fantasy TV show, The Witcher has become one of Netflix’s most watched movies and original shows in recent years. It was renewed for its fourth season earlier in 2018, which will be split into two parts—the first set to premiere in late 2019. The trailer for Season 4 was released on March 28th, offering fans their first look at what’s in store.

You’ve got plenty more time to binge on your favorite shows from last year and those still releasing episodes in 2019. Get ready to fall into a state of euphoria! Here are our picks for most watched movies and tv series till 2021.

S*x/Life: Season 1 (67 Million Watch)

It’s official, Stranger Things 3 has become Netflix's most-watched series in history. That means that while bingeing on season three or waiting for season four (spoiler alert: It's coming July 4), fans streamed over 67 million hours of Stranger Things. The number excludes people who stream on other devices like Apple TV. According to Nielsen, an average episode of Stranger Things takes up around 2 hours, 20 minutes in total screen time (the time you spend watching an episode before taking breaks). That would make for 34 episodes at 13 hours each; which is how many episodes are available for streaming on Netflix.

Money Heist: Part 4 (65 Million Watch)

The second part of Money Heist is now the most watched movie non-English or TV series ever on Netflix. Based on the best-selling book by Paulo Coelho, Money Heist was a big hit in Spain, where it was released in theaters last summer. The movie became a major success in its home country, and then got picked up by Netflix. It has been seen by over 65 million people around the world. It’s also one of Netflix’s most watched Spanish-language shows. Part 2 debuted in October 2018.

Tiger King: Season 1 (64 Million Watch)

Chess fans have been excited about a new movie starring Queen Latifah as an FBI agent named Phiona who is investigating a murder, which leads her to chess. According to IMDB, it's expected to be released in January 2019. And, yes, you'll actually get to see Queen Latifah play chess! Though she was reportedly trained by Susan Polgar, a Hungarian-American chess grandmaster, and four-time women's world champion. She also reportedly got some help from Billy Crystal and another grandmaster since (sadly) we probably shouldn't expect much from Hollywood on that front. At least we won't be completely disappointed!

The Queen's Gambit (62 Million Watch)

While there are many old films available on Netflix, The Queen's Gambit was recently made available in April 2019. This movie came out in 2010 with a runtime of about one hour and forty-seven minutes.

While you might think that an older film isn't relevant anymore, movies don't lose their importance when they're not new. There are many young people who aren't able to see films when they first come out in theaters, so being able to watch them can be exciting for both younger viewers and adults who want to revisit films they missed when they were released. The Queen's Gambit is one such movie with a relatively straightforward plot but interesting elements throughout.

Sweet Tooth: Season 1 (60 Million Watch)

Like a box of chocolates, you never know what to expect when watching Sweet Tooth. It’s a high-concept series, in which Ian McShane plays a biker named Mr. Wednesday who hires a young witch named Shadow Moon to work for him as his bodyguard, only Shadow isn’t allowed to ask about Wednesday’s past or any details about his life. In between clashes with gods who are annoyed by his poaching habits, Shadow learns about Wednesday’s mysterious job offers—which includes making an old woman run faster than her car—and embarks on a journey that slowly reveals more about both their pasts and futures until they arrive at an intense confrontation that could change the future of America forever.

Emily in Paris: Season 1 (58 Million Watch)

The romantic dramedy has a simple, timeless story about a couple living in Paris who runs into trouble when they try to get married. It’s cute, funny, and entertaining. Although Season 2 is no longer available on Netflix (Netflix removed it in February), you can still find Season 1 on Netflix (and it has four stars out of 5). Emily in Paris: Season 1 was co-created by Ken Marino, one of our favorite comedic actors from Community and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. The series follows Emily Thomas (Jessica Paré) as she flees her husband after catching him cheating with another woman.

Top 10 Most Popular Movies

The most popular movies in a year are a crucial indicator for Hollywood, a film’s star power, its director, and quality. Looking at top-10 lists from various film sites can give us insight into what may have been one of cinema's best years in history or not. In 2018, Comic Book Movie compiled their list based on that year’s box office numbers using Wikipedia pages. New site Box Office Analyst has spent years compiling lists based on tickets sold, so these can be considered relatively reputable sources. They also have all titles ranked by time frame, which is great for looking ahead to future successes.

Extraction (99 Million Watch)

Netflix most watched movies are A Christmas Prince, The Kissing Booth, Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, and Insatiable. While it’s not new on our list of most-watched shows, Orange is The New Black still holds a spot with 29 million viewers. But wait—what about Arrested Development? It was included in an earlier chart on page one that shows only TV series on Netflix that has at least 20 million viewers. That means people are watching more shows on services like Amazon Prime or Hulu than they are with their local networks, which aren’t updated as often.

Bird Box (89 Million Watch)

Based on a novel of the same name, Bird Box has been on Netflix since December 2018. Following a group of survivors through a post-apocalyptic world in which many have taken their own lives because of an evil entity that makes them do it while making others see their worst fears, Sandra Bullock stars as Malorie. As she travels with her children while blindfolded, Malorie must also watch for assailants both human and supernatural. Like The Haunting of Hill House, Bird Box is guaranteed to leave you looking over your shoulder long after it's over... but will have you watching repeatedly trying to figure out what happens next.

Spenser Confidential (85 Million Watch)

Based on a novel by author Robert B. Parker, Spenser is set in Boston, but filmed in Toronto (except for exteriors), hence its nickname Hockeywood. After seven seasons on ABC, which ended with an abbreviated eighth season that ran online-only on AOL, Avery Brooks took over as Spencer for two more seasons that aired only on Hallmark Channel. While arguably most remembered for launching Robert Downey Jr.'s career, don't forget to check out all seven seasons featuring Billy Baldwin (and later Avery Brooks) as Boston-based PI Spencer. As a wise girlfriend, Vinnie puts it when one of Spenser's love interests is attacked by her abusive boyfriend: Take him out with one punch so she doesn't get any black eyes.

6 Underground (83 Million Watch)

A worldwide hit, 6 Underground will return for a second season. This popular show has become one of Netflix's highest-rated shows, cementing its place in many countries' top three.

France can't get enough; Spain loves it; Greece binge-watched it nonstop. As viewers were eating up season 1 (83 million), Hollywood went crazy trying to lock down contracts for season 2 (Netflix won!). The show's already started shooting...and location scouts are said to have gone deep underground to find filming locations to wait for its tunnels!

Murder Mystery (83 Million Watch)

In a remote mansion, a group of celebrities with checkered pasts gather for a dinner party that will change their lives forever. But as guests start turning up dead, no one seems to be safe, except for maybe all-star detective Miles Jackson. With the top talent involved in front of and behind the camera, Murder Mystery is an intriguing thriller from screenwriter James Vanderbilt (Zodiac). Starring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Luke Evans, and others.

The Old Guard (78 Million Watch)

It's amazing to think that 78 million people watched the Old Guard, and it's even more surprising to know that it was the most-watched show of all time. That's why it's important to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in digital marketing. Here are five ways that you can make sure your company is on top of the latest developments.

Enola Holmes (77 Million Watch)

Based on the world’s greatest female detective, Enola Holmes is inspired by Conan Doyle’s The Adventure of Young Sherlock Holmes and Young Watson. Set in New York City, Enola (and her younger brother) use their deductive powers to solve cases. It stars Ashley Scott as Enola Holmes and Jackson White as her young counterpart. It's a light-hearted mystery drama aimed at kids, but its focus on female protagonists could help get girls interested in STEM subjects early on. The Enola Holmes Mysteries is a series about a brilliant little girl who solves mysteries with her detective brother Sherlock. One thing that makes it unique from other Sherlock usage shows is that there are four female protagonists in it, including Harriet, Enola’s sister Mycroft, Enola herself, and their maid Rosie. Despite being very much in girl territory, it's amazingly entertaining to watch - in fact, I'm a bit upset at myself for not watching it sooner! Based on a book series by Nancy Springer, each season has four feature-length episodes which give you plenty of time to binge them all! With total views reaching well over 40 million for both seasons 1 & 2 combined since its release in 2018, get ready to see your next favorite show.

Project Power (75 Million Watch)

For those who like to keep up with exciting and scintillating content, Spenser: For Hire (1985-89) is a sure bet. Centered on a private investigator named Spencer for hire, it will thrill you as much as it did when it first came out. With over 85 million viewers worldwide, its popularity has not waned even after decades. So if you want an exciting watch that still holds up after all these years, go check out Spenser: For Hire. Season 8 also brought us Roger Ebert regular Sam Waterston reprising his Law & Order role as Spenser's father, a retired cop who still has a lot of connections in law enforcement. Many consider Captain Leland Stottlemeyer to be Waterston's breakout role before his star turn in HBO's Oz. Like Moonlighting before it, some fans felt the series had lost its mojo after its big break by going from indie film success—in its case Orion Pictures—to network television. In fact, they share another similarity besides being produced by MGM Television—both left broadcast television after they each earned five Emmy nominations yet won no statuettes.

Army of the Dead (75 Million Watch)

Army of the Dead is a 2021 post-apocalyptic American zombie horror film directed by Steve Boyum from a screenplay by Greg Russo. The film stars Bruce Willis, Frank Grillo, Chase Williamson, Alexa PenaVega, Tyler Labine, Kathleen Munroe, and Matthew Fahey. Zombies are attacking Las Vegas two weeks before Halloween, and they've got the entire city terrified. This is a terrifying story that will keep you up late at night as you try to survive this horrifying outbreak.

A group of survivors led by Army Ranger Rick Harper (Grillo) seeks refuge in an abandoned insane asylum on an island off-shore.

Fatherhood (74 Million Watch)

The supernatural thriller, based on Guillermo del Toro’s book trilogy The Strain, was ordered for 13 episodes. It stars Corey Stoll (who also stars in House of Cards) as a CDC official investigating a mysterious viral outbreak with frightening implications. When it is renewed for season 3 in early 2017, The Hollywood Reporter speculates it will be moved to FX’s sister network FXX because of its content not being family-friendly.

Conclusions

In summary and Conundrums, A study conducted in 2017 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School found that the average college graduate’s debt load has more than doubled since 2000, from about $23,000 per student to about $47,000. And that number is expected to rise further. Also, a recent Gallup poll found that more than half of all Americans say they don’t think their children will have any better economic prospects than them. (In a statement issued Tuesday, the White House said it “strongly supports” the bill.) It doesn’t help that millennials are saddled with the highest unemployment rate in recent memory.
