Wish I Was Here Movie Review
Wish I was here movie presents us with the Life Questions wrapped in fresh humor. The movie has a great cast, good story line, and is very well done, although is has some unnecessary, inappropriate language and content. But this movie was better than our expectation. A story that was perfectly paced and gives a healthy mixture of laughs and tears are found often with new movies releases now and then.
So in our opinion, Zach Braff has made one great dramatic film, and one of the finest comedic ones, in his career. As usual, he shows his versatility and range in "Wish I Was Here."
In many ways, it's similar to a few other recent comedies like "Friends With Kids" or "Get Him To The Greek." So he decides to become a dad and takes the kids back to live with him. There are some nice, funny touches like his kids' teacher (Jane Lynch) being a former stripper, but the story is never quite strong enough to make this a great movie.
Braff plays the role of a father who is attempting to cope with a serious personal crisis, but finds himself drawn into the middle of a much bigger crisis than he could have possibly imagined. We believe it does something most dramas on television don't do anymore: it deals with real human sentiment. It isn't afraid to make the audience cry. It shows you that just because we live in a technological age, doesn't mean that our excitements are gone.
As a result, 'Wish I Was Here' manages to be incredibly heartfelt and incredibly hilarious at the same time. I've watched this film multiple times over the past several weeks, and we can't help but laugh and feel the sting of despair at the same time.
The film is a masterclass in how to handle a movie.
